Past Conestoga Racing programs, preserved for reference.
COBRA and Aerovolt are no longer active builds, but their documents, photos, and lessons inform how Conestoga Formula Electric operates today.
COBRA — Conestoga Off-road Baja Racing Association
COBRA represented Conestoga College for the Baja SAE Collegiate Design Series from the mid-2000s through the late 2010s. Students designed single-seat, 10 hp off-road cars that endured acceleration, hill climb, maneuverability, and endurance events.
- 2008: 35th out of 122 teams at Baja SAE, ahead of major North American universities.
- 2018: 5th place at Université Laval’s Épreuve du Nord invitational—best Ontario finisher on site.
- Delivered fabrication skills, driver safety culture, and documentation habits that now benefit CFE.
Aerovolt — Waterloo EV Challenge
Aerovolt fielded Conestoga’s lightweight electric endurance car for the University of Waterloo EV Challenge. The program focused on efficiency, energy management, and rapid iteration.
- 2024 debut: 1st among college teams and 3rd overall with 29 laps in the 12 V race.
- Demonstrated how to pivot quickly—switching from the 24 V class to 12 V when weather forced event changes.
- Provided first-hand experience with battery rulesets that now accelerate Formula Electric documentation.
