From concept to competition

2023 - Vision & registration

Conestoga College files intent to compete, securing a spot on the Formula SAE Electric 2026 attendance/waitlist.

2024 - Architecture locked

Subsystem leads finalize chassis and accumulator concepts, with cross-functional reviews informed by Baja and EV Challenge experience.

2025 - Build year

Manufacturing ramps up at 850 Fountain Street South—tube prep, HV enclosures, LV harness boards, and aero tooling.

2026 - Static + dynamic events

Design, cost, and presentation packages submitted ahead of the Michigan event, followed by on-site inspections and dynamic events.

Why COBRA and Aerovolt matter even as archives

2008 - COBRA Top-35

Conestoga’s Baja team placed 35th of 122 entrants, outperforming larger universities and creating a culture of practical engineering.

2018 - Invitational podium

COBRA finished 5th at Université Laval’s Épreuve du Nord—proof that Conestoga fabrication and endurance chops travel well.

2024 - Aerovolt win

The electric endurance team won the college category at the University of Waterloo EV Challenge (29 laps in the 12 V race).
