Ground-up design
Students own the concept from accumulator topology through aero surfaces. We follow SAE documentation standards, Conestoga safety policies, and internal design reviews led by subsystem leads.
About CFE
CFE is the active project under the Conestoga Racing umbrella. Every design review, donor meeting, and shop shift now supports a single mission: debuting a competitive Formula SAE Electric car in 2026.
Mission
Students own the concept from accumulator topology through aero surfaces. We follow SAE documentation standards, Conestoga safety policies, and internal design reviews led by subsystem leads.
Business, marketing, and project management tracks keep sponsorships ethical, donations compliant, and logistics lined up for Michigan.
How we’re organized
| Track | Scope | 2025–26 priority |
|---|---|---|
| Electrical systems | Accumulator, LV/HV harnesses, safety logic, data, TS validation. | Finalize cell selection, build serviceable modules, and deliver all SAE electrical reports. |
| Mechanical systems | Chassis, suspension, steering, braking, cooling, aero, ergonomics. | Complete chassis fabrication, integrate the powertrain, and prep for endurance testing. |
| Business & partnerships | Cost/design/static events, sponsors, charitable donations, outreach, logistics. | Deliver static event packages, align sponsorship with ethical guidelines, and plan the MIS trip. |
Why Formula Electric
Students learn HV safety, power electronics, and software-defined controls that map directly to Canada’s EV sector.
Formula SAE Electric demands excellence across electrical, mechanical, and business events—perfect for Conestoga’s applied engineering culture.
Insights from COBRA (Baja SAE) and Aerovolt (Waterloo EV Challenge) are documented in our legacy archive so CFE can move faster.
Legacy snapshot
Provided decades of fabrication practice and endurance racing insight. Now archived for historical context.
Delivered our first EV podium (1st among colleges, 2024). Documentation now informs CFE’s energy management work.
